{ free macro lens }

Did you know you can take a macro photo with you standard kit lens? I didn't, until I read about it on the internet.

The only thing you have to do is take it off and flip it over and hold it to your camera. The shots you take are not perfect, they have a nice dreamy touch.

Here are some of the photo's I took that way.

There is a downside. The depth of field is very shallow, only a few mm. You keep the body with one hand and the lens with the other and move it back and forth until you have some kind of focus. I also don't think keeping your DSLR open for a prolonged period is good for it, as it is easy for dust and dirt to enter the camera. There are rings for sale with which you can attach the lens to the body though.

If you are interested in cheap options for macro photography to read The poor man's guide to budget macro photography.

It is also possible to turn an old standard lens into a macro lens by removing the first element.

you safe and buy a decent macro lens.

  1. I didn't know this was possible. Great shots!
    I have a cheap ring I put before my normal lens. Also not perfect, but very cheap and it works.
