{This ‘n that}

I wrote this post last weekend! I meant to have Blogger post it on Wednesday, but I forgot to upload it. That is the downside of Live Writer. You type a post and think your ready LOL.

But it gives my a chance to add some things. OK here we go…

Remember the plates I bought a little while ago.

I forgot to tell H. about them and sort unloaded them
on the desk in our hobby anex dressing room upstairs.
The morning after I bought them he came downstairs very
excited to ask me where I bought those plates. You see,
they ate a lot of California soup at his home and those plates
were a childhood memory for him. He is not the thrift store type, but he really was happy with this find. And that made me happy!

Notes from a hospital bed, is one of my favorite blogs at the moment. An, (to me) unknown, journalist keeps a daily journal about the food suplied to him in a NHS (National Health Service) hospital in Great Brittain. I know it sounds boring, but it is really very funny. Well not for the man.  He has to stay in in traction (ed. untill a couple of days ago) in the hospital …. and eat the food.
I read almost all the posts he wrote since he started blogging late August. It seems that the hospital’s view of a balanced meal is peas peas, peas, peas peas and peas. Oh yes and custard. Poor man! Thanks to Mary for mentioning the blog.

Do you like my new banner? I made it with the help of
this tutorial. Easy peasy! The font is Teletype.

I’ve read so much about Pottery Barn on the internet. I wanted to take a look at their site, but I can’t. I keep getting the following message; “Sorry, due to website restrictions we are unable to display the requested page” Does anybody know why? Is it because I don’t live in the US? I would like to send them an e-mail about it but I don’t have the e-mail address  because I don’t have access. Could somebody look it up for me. I tried but never got a response. Thank you for helping me out!

Take care and have a nice weekend!

  1. I have just discovered your blog and I like it very much! It is so nice to meet you. I think your new banner is beautiful. You did a great job. Have a nice weekend! Twyla

  2. I just love your new banner! (The typeface fits the bill perfectly)

The blogsnow made me feel a bit chilly though.

  4. How interesting..reading about the man in the hospital. Knowing me.. I would blog all about my journey too! :0 ~ Only it could get tricky with pain meds I'm sure. I'm glad you found a connection with him and his peas. he-he..

I'm grateful we are still friends Marianne. I was talking to a friend.. and I can't remember when we first met.. but I know it was close to the beginning of my blogging. Weird that I consider you an "old friend" --when we have only known each other for a year or 2.

Thanks for sticking by me even though we are VERY different. I really hope we meet up one day.
I KNOW it would be fun.

Hope your sunday is Happy! XO

  5. die borden ik vind ze helemaal geweldig.
    een hele fijne avond Stipje

  6. Heb je hier wat aan?

Ik weet natuurlijk niet wat je precies zoekt, of dat je gewoon in hun winkel wilt kijken!

    Groetjes Thea

  9. Hi Marianne,

I'm having the same issues with the pottery barn website (west elm too, great store but inaccessible from the netherlands, see West Elm is from the same company as Pottery Barn and they did post a telephone number for inquiries. I phoned them and the lady told me it was enforced from the countries' governments that block the site. I.e. the Dutch government!! I couldn't find any info online about this practice so I phoned Postbus 51 with my question and they are looking into it now and promised they'd get back to me. I find it hugely frustrating like you as well... in the meantime, there's ways to get around the block online (using proxies).

    Hope this helps!
